REVIEW OF WATER TARIFF RATES

KIMAWASCO wishes to inform its customers and the general public of the changes in the water tariff rates as approved by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB)

The new tariff was approved and published in the Kenya gazette through gazette notice No. 10538 on the 11th of August 2023 which is to be applied for a period of three years. The new rates take effect from this month of September 2023

Below is a schedule of the billing rates for different categories

Public consultation meeting on license renewal – Virtual Link

KIMAWASCO has applied for a license renewal to (WASREB) which will be expiring in August 2023. 
One of the requirements for issuance of the license is to undertake public consultation as per the Water Act 2016, Section 87 (1).

Water Act 2016 Section 139

Notice is given to the general public that:
Kilifi-Mariakani Water & Sewerage Company Ltd (KIMAWASCO) which provides water services by authority of a license issued by WASREB has applied to the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) for a regular tariff review. Further, that KIMAWASCO proposes an upward tariff review to enable the water utility to operate at full cost recovery and meet conditions necessary for improving service delivery. Please note that due to the challenge posed by the COVID 19 Pandemic, the WSP will hold
hybrid public consultation meetings; face to face meetings for few stakeholders and virtual meetings for the rest of the stakeholders as outlined below;

VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF THE MANAGING DIRECTOR

Kilifi – Mariakani Water and Sewerage Company Limited, is one of the water service providers in the coast region and a wholly owned subsidiary of the County Government of Kilifi licensed by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) to offer water supply and Sanitation services in Rabai, Kaloleni, Ganze, Kilifi South and Part of Kilifi North, Malindi & Magarini Sub-Counties. The company wishes to recruit a self-driven and result oriented Kenyan to fill a vacancy for the position of the Managing Director and applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified persons.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Following the promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, and subsequent enactment of the Water Act 2016 the provision of water
services is now a devolved function of the County Governments. Consequently, the County Governments took over the ownership of the
Water Service Providers [WSPs] within their counties.


Under the Corporate Governance guidelines, the Water Services Providers [WSPs] are managed by a Board of Directors whose primary
function is oversight in the long-term interest of shareholders and stakeholders.
In this respect, The County Government of Kilifi [CGK] intends to fill two vacant positions in the Board of Kilifi-Mariakani Water & Sewerage
Co. Ltd (KIMAWASCO-WSP) as indicated below:


BACKGROUND OF THE DIRECTORS
The composition of the directors requires a mix of skills from the Business and Manufacturing Community, Professional Bodies, Resident
Organizations, Women Organizations and Local Stakeholder groups such as schools, farmers, youth groups, geographical representation
etc. The selection process will be subjected to the Constitutional requirement of gender and regional balance.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible, all persons appointed to the board must.

  1. Be literate and numerate to at least O level with Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrate experience and acumen in any business, profession or trade for at least 7 years.
  3. Demonstrate participation in local development initiatives.
  4. Have experience as change management agent.
  5. Not be suppliers or other trading associates of the Company.
  6. Be a resident within the area served by the Company.
  7. Obtain recommendation from the nominating body they wish to represent.
  8. Fulfil conditions of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership & integrity.
